Book Launch – The Mentor Within by Rosemary Shapiro-Liu

February 13, 2017

On the 17 January 2017, the double-storey Umvoto Africa building on the Muizenberg beachfront was transformed into an outstanding party venue for the book launch in South Africa of The Mentor Within, written by Rosemary Shapiro-Liu. Friends, family, Umvoto staff and book lovers poured through Umvoto’s iron gates to join the party, where a live accordionist, catered food, wine and drinks and vibrant atmosphere were up on the evening’s menu.

Rosemary Shapiro-Liu, a sought-after mentor, coach, facilitator and speaker, gained rich experience working for social justice in the tough years of apartheid in South Africa. In The Mentor Within, Rosemary draws on lessons from her mentors and her vast experience as a coach and facilitator. The book offers three keys to unlock your wisdom: clarity, confidence, and commitment to the promises you make to yourself.

Umvoto staff had the privilege to participate in a workshop Rosemary gave prior to the book launch, which had the theme ‘How to Realise Our Potential’. Umvoto team took home from this workshop several valuable pieces of advice. First, Rosemary expressed how having a weekly management meeting with yourself, weekly meeting with your supervisor and taking a few days for yourself every year can be beneficial to all individuals. Rosemary also conveyed that clarifying an opportunity or a wish, having confidence in this aspiration and committing to it can make miracles.

So, what aspiration crossed your mind as you read this?
