Nelson Mandela’s International Day 2017

July 31, 2017

The 18th of July is the anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth. This day was proclaimed Nelson Mandela Day worldwide in honour of the 67 years Nelson Mandela fought for social justice and peace in South Africa. Umvoto team spent 67 minutes and more of their time baking muffins to donate to the needy and to those who serve our community day in and day out. They were ably organised by Nadia Hamit.

Selected team members delivered the muffins to False Bay hospital and Kalk Bay Safe Haven Shelter with positive responses such as “Wow, these muffins are so delicious can I please have another one”, “Wow happy birthday Mandela”. This is a day to remember how important it is to put a smile on someone else face by touching their hearts when they least expect and to continue Mandela’s work to make the world a better place.
