Umvoto offers local and overseas students invaluable practical experince through its renowned internship programme, established in 2001.
The company has provided work experience ranging from a few weeks to six months for undergraduates and Honours students from South African institutions such as Fort Hare, Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Pretoria and Limpopo Universities. Academic support for Masters students (with Umvoto providing projects and co-supervising theses) has mainly been given to students from African countries, the UK, Canada, Germany and France.
Umvoto has, for the past few years, had a Birmingham University hydrogeology Masters student at Umvoto.
The company has also been cooperating with the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Muizenberg since 2008. Umvoto organises and runs courses (with support from Purdue University, Indiana, USA) at the Institute, and helps supervise students where possible.
