Established in 2001, Umvoto's internship program offers local and international undergraduates and Honours students invaluable practical experience in the field. We also provide projects and academic support for Masters students and co-supervise theses.

Kgomotso Mokoena

Learnership

February 2017 – Present

Kgomotso Mokoena joined Umvoto Africa in 2017 and is currently working as a hydrogeological/geological intern at Umvoto Africa as part of the learnership programme in NDip geology at Tshwane University of technology.

Upon her arrival at the company she has been assisting in a few company projects and has had exposure to hydrogeological field work; with hydrogeological data management being her overriding acquired skill at the company. The learnership programme at the company has provided her with the necessary platform in merging theoretical tertiary education with industry experience.

Bongeka Stuurman

June 2017 – Present

Bongeka Stuurman is an intern at Umvoto Africa who is currently studying for a diploma in Environmental Management at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. She has been an exceptionally passionate and motivated Environmental Management student who is part of the CPUT Green Campus Initiative ambassadors and the CPUT arts society.

Her internship is giving her an opportunity to apply her knowledge and do hands on activities. “Since the first day I came to the office for an interview, I have felt welcomed with everyone so friendly and being able to help any time.

Emersia Matola

Learnership

June 2017 – Present

Emersia Matola joined the company on the 3rd of July 2017. Emersia is a hardworking, dedicated student one of the top students in her class. Emersia is a third-year geology student from Tshwane University of Technology, currently completing a 6-month internship program at Umvoto with the objective of getting as much experience as possible in the geology field and use this experience in her career.

Emersia Matola has been exposed to software programs such as QGIS and Rockware and has been working on some hydrogeological projects. “Umvoto is very peaceful and has a friendly atmosphere which enables one to learn, all members of the company are ready to teach and learn from one another”, says Emersia.

Gustave Ilunga

Learnership

June 2017 – Present

Gustave Ilunga is completing the last year of his Diploma in Environmental Management at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Afterward, he will enroll for the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Environmental Management. Since July 2017, Gustave Ilunga joined Umvoto as an intern for a 6 months learnership which is part of the requirements for him to be awarded the Diploma.
