Kgomotso Mokoena is a Junior Geologist who first joined Umvoto in 2017 through a learnership programme (which is a work-based learning programme that leads to obtaining an NQF registered qualification). As a learnership student, the bulk of her duties centered around assisting in the field, data processing and admin. After successfully completing the program, she was able to obtain her National Diploma and (in the following year) BTech in Geology from Tshwane University of Technology. In 2019, Kgomotso returned to Umvoto as an intern and was then promoted to Junior Geologist in the same year. Since working at the company, Kgomotso has worked on several projects (including The City of Cape Town’s New Water Programme) which have provided her with substantial experience in planning and executing groundwater monitoring fieldwork, hydrogeological data analysis and interpretation as well as report writing. She is a registered Candidate Natural Scientist (SACNASP) in the field of Geological Sciences. In her free time, Kgomotso enjoys reading, yoga and connecting with nature.
