Anele Matsebula is a Geology Intern at Umvoto, with a BSc Honours degree in Geology from the University of Cape Town (UCT). Her Honours research focused on neotectonic faults in southwest Namibia, where she used remote sensing techniques to analyse their implications for seismic hazard assessments. She chose to expand the scope of this research for her master’s degree which she is currently completing, becoming more familiar with satellite image processing software and GIS tools, as well as analysing and interpreting geophysical data.
Throughout the course of her studies at UCT, Anele was very involved in the Geological Sciences Department as a research/lab assistant and tutor, developing her teamwork and communication skills. She often went out in the field, improving her skills in data collection and analysis, report writing and adherence to safety protocols.
Anele usually spends her weekends outdoors with friends hiking, going on picnics or reading novels.
