Umvoto was appointed by the Department of Water and Sanitation in 2016 as the lead Professional Service Provider for a feasibility plan and study execution for groundwater resource development of the Malmani Subgroup dolomites within the Olifants River Water Supply System (ORWSS) (which arc across the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces). The aim was to secure groundwater as a long-term option to augment water supply to the ORWSS by optimising the conjunctive use between surface water and groundwater, as well as to determine the possibility of artificial recharge of the fractured and karstic dolomite aquifers.
