Annalisa is a professionally registered Water Resource Scientist with five years’ experience in the field of Hydrogeology and Groundwater Numerical Modelling. She has consulted on a range of international projects, primarily within the mining sector, which include groundwater impact assessments, groundwater supply investigations, water use license applications, mine dewatering, mine remediation and groundwater contamination predictions. Throughout her career, she has focused on improving her numerical modelling abilities and has become proficient in several software packages, including Groundwater Vistas, Surfer, FEFLOW, ArcGIS, Leapfrog and AquaChem. Her immediate focus at Umvoto has been on three-dimensional numerical modelling as part of water resilience projects for the City of Cape Town.
Annalisa has a background in environmental and water sciences with her post-graduate studies focussing on hydrogeology. Her MSc. assessed the feasibility of using coal fly ash to backfill opencast coal mines, in Mpumalanga, South Africa. Whilst completing her studies she fulfilled an internship and assisted on various groundwater consulting projects. Thereafter, she had gained consulting experience in the mining sector at a reputable consulting company and has been Professionally registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP).
Her personal skills involve being an effective communicator, a logical thinker, a good presenter, and an enthusiastically hard worker. She is particularly passionate about achieving a better socio-economic standpoint for future generations through the sustainable management of groundwater resources.
