Bomkazi Vava is a Junior Hydrogeologist at Umvoto having submitted her Masters in Geohydrology at the University of the Free State. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Geohydrology and a BSc in Hydrology and Water Resources Management from the Central University of Technology. Her Honours research focused on the application of advection-dispersion transport to groundwater contamination.
Bomkazi’s current tasks include field work to gather hydrogeological data, data analysis, GIS assistance, borehole drilling and test pumping onsite supervision, hydrogeological monitoring, and report writing. Bomkazi has applied to be a Candidate Natural Scientist with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions.
Bomkazi is a member of the South African Youth Parliament for Water, currently volunteering at Young Water Profession under the Water Institute of Southern Africa as the Eastern Cape vice lead, and has an article published in the September/October issue of 2023 Water and Sanitation Africa Magazine. Her hobbies include reading books and cooking.
