Errol Malijani is a Junior Water Scientist at Umvoto while completing her doctorate in Environmental and Water Science at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), looking at the influence of groundwater in isolated pools along non-perennial rivers in the Touws River Catchment. Errol’s master’s research focused on characterising the water quality of rivers and aquifers in the Nuwejaars Catchment located in the Western Cape province of South Africa.
During her studies at UWC, Errol had the opportunity to work on scientific reports for the Water Research Commission of South Africa on behalf of the Institute of Water Studies. In this role, she was involved in water quality sampling, laboratory analysis, data analysis, and report drafting. This experience allowed her to enhance her research abilities. Errol has also co-authored two publications (Day et al., 2019 and WRC, 2021) on water quality. Errol’s current tasks include field work to gather water quality and hydrogeological data, data analysis, and report writing.
Errol’s hobbies include reading novels and listening to music. She also enjoys watching a good movie and spending time with friends and family.
