Fahad Aziz is a junior water and environmental scientist at Umvoto and a collaborator for The Umvoto Foundation (TUF). Fahad obtained his MSc in Environmental and Geographical Sciences from the University of Cape Town in 2020 and is currently registered as a Candidate Natural Scientist with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professionals (Water resource scientist). Fahad joined Umvoto in 2021 and has gained experience in hydrological and ecological monitoring, surface and ground water quality analysis, and contamination assessments. He has primarily worked on three large-scale projects of the City of Cape Town’s New Water Programme, including the Table Mountain Group Aquifer Scheme (Steenbras Wellfield), Cape Flats Aquifer Management Scheme (CFAMS) and Atlantis Water Resource Management Scheme (AWRMS). Most recently, this included the evaluation of Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) in the CFAMS.
Prior to joining Umvoto, Fahad worked for the City of Cape Town as an intern in 2020 and gained experience in stormwater management and stormwater pollution abatement plans. As a collaborator for TUF, Fahad has been involved in various community outreach related projects that included transformative arts, recycling, water sampling demonstrations and environmental education.
