Khutjo Diphofe is a Junior Hydrogeologist at Umvoto, who recently completed her MSc Hydrogeology degree from the University of Pretoria. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Geochemistry and BSc (majoring in Geology and Chemistry) from Wits University. During her postgraduate studies, she worked as a teaching assistant in the Geology Department at the University of Pretoria. She has also worked as a high school teacher, where she spearheaded an academic remedial action programme.
Khutjo is a Candidate Scientist registered with SACNASP (South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions) and a member of the GSSA (Geological Society of South Africa).
Khutjo’s interest in groundwater resource management emanates from her consciousness to the lack of potable water and sanitation for the many residents of rural South Africa. Her role at Umvoto includes undertaking geological and hydrogeological monitoring fieldwork, supervising onsite drilling and test-pumping conducted by contractors, and supporting research and development projects.
Khutjo’s leisure time is spent trying new cooking recipes, running outdoors, and reading.
