Magen Munnik is a Hydrogeologist who joined Umvoto in 2016. Her tertiary background includes a Masters (MPhil) in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), a Postgraduate Diploma in IWRM and a BSc in Applied Geology, all of which was completed at the University of the Western Cape. She is a registered Professional Natural Scientist (SACNASP) in the field of Earth Sciences.
Since working at Umvoto she has worked on several projects which provided her with extensive experience and a working knowledge of (but not limited to) geology, climate, surface catchments, wetlands, aquifer types, groundwater recharge (natural and managed aquifer recharge), groundwater quality and abstraction.
Magen was appointed as Team Lead for the Monitoring Team in 2021 as a supporting role of large-scale projects including the City of Cape Town’s New Water Programmes. Her responsibilities as team leader included time management, campaign planning, operational budgeting, training, and mentorship.
