Rob Guy is the Business Development Manager at Umvoto with a BSc Honours in Hydrology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, as well as a BCom in Economics and Business Management and a teaching diploma from Unisa. Rob worked in surface water hydrology research, climate and soil zone mapping, as well as lectured before moving to Eswatini (Swaziland) to undertake commercial forestry site-species optimisation research for Sappi.
In 2002, Rob moved to Australia where he held various roles from research, training and sales for Sentek Technologies who manufacture soil moisture and salinity probes and associated software used in precision irrigation, soil-water research, and soil-vadose zone environmental monitoring. At the time of his semi-retirement and his return to South Africa in 2023, Rob had been Sentek’s Sales Manager for over 15 years. His work took him to 50 countries with the primary focus being within Europe and the United States.
In his spare time, Rob enjoys running, swimming, snorkelling, hiking, and canoeing plus reading, writing and the company of friends and family.
