Umvoto is in the process of supplying an automatic weather station and air quality sensors to Corbetti Geothermal PLC. The clean geothermal energy power project is being built in the Corbetti Caldera area of Oromia, which is in the Great Rift Valley some 250 km southwest of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Baseline monitoring of the pre-construction environment is crucial to the socio-economic endorsement of this large-scale development, specifically to track and record dust and aerosol dispersion. Hydrogen sulphide and fugitive dust levels in the immediate area downwind of hydrothermal plants must be monitored in agreement with World Health Organisation human safety levels. On completion of the construction and commissioning of the stations, Umvoto will regularly record parameters and submit compliance reports to the client.
