FunDza, a South African outreach programme, that specifically creates and publishes materials to offer reading and research opportunities for teens and young adults, recently published an article in their popular Work-Wise Critical Skills blog campaign focusing on the field of geology and geohydrology. One of Umvoto Africa’s resident geologists, Zandri Rademan, was interviewed to give a personal account and provide further information on the necessary requirements to become-, and the role of- a professional geohydrologist/geologist in South Africa. Fostering an early interest and understanding of the generally misunderstood and diverse field of geology, as well as the importance of the study of groundwater as a resource within water scarce southern Africa, is imperative to building a greater understanding within the wider community. A role Umvoto Africa firmly believes in.
