Umvoto presenting at the IAIAsa Conference

The International Association for Impact Assessment South Africa (IAIAsa) are hosting their annual conference from the 27th to the 30th of August in Rustenburg North West, where the theme is ‘From roar to revolution: Unleashing the future of IEM’. Some of our team at Umvoto will be presenting at this conference.

Gemma Bluff (Senior Climatologist), Melissa Rankin (Junior Environmentalist), and Kim Parker (Junior Environmentalist) will present on work completed for the City of Cape Town’s New Water Programme and the Overstrand Municipality where Umvoto is involved in the development and management of the Cape Flats and Table Mountain Group Aquifers respectively. Presentations are entitled:

  • “The Cape Flats Aquifer Management Scheme as a systems thinking City project that considers the SDGs and ESG for cross-cutting performance” by Gemma Bluff;
  • “The Crucial Role of ECOs in Site-Specific Environmental Management for Groundwater Development” by Melissa Rankin; and
  • “Integrated Water Resource and Environmental Management of Groundwater Development/Abstraction within Hermanus (Western Cape)” by Kim Parker.

The Environmental Department look forward to engaging with peers in Integrated Environmental Management and striving for scientific excellence.
